Awesome wine shop. Friendly shop owner. Bought a bottle of Parentini 2005 Chianti, which we later paired with the finest of italian Lays chips—San Carlo Rustico. We enjoyed this divine paring whilst washing our clothes in a Florence laundromat. We met two Spanish girls and saw two kids making out who got caught by the girl's brother. The boy was extremely embarresed. Good wine, good time. One of my favorite moments from Florence, which by the way did not live up to the hype. It was one of the most disappointing cities I've visited in Europe. Rome is much more up my alley.

 

 

Euro Beer #50: Street Beer

 

While waiting for our host, who we later dubbed Ursala, we drank a beer in the street. Ursala was a chain smoker and lived in a straight up hovel.

After jetting from Ursala’s casa we stumbled upon this jewel. Kickass apricot and cheese (ricotta) appetizer. I had pizza with prosciutto and cheese. Very tasty. Sofia had gnocchi, in cheese and truffle oil. It was good but not the best gnocchi we’ve had. It got old, too much of a good thing. Moretti beer. Next to us was a couple of moronic American students talking about the stupidest drivel, unlike us of course.

Very cool find. Wine, fruit, veggies, beer, specialty food. Very friendly owners/staff. We purchased a bottle of Rhyton Ur, a blond ale and drank it in some piazza. It was pretty tasty. We also bought some bananas.

Euro Beer #48: Ristorante Self-Service Leonardo

After getting in, locking up our bags, checking out the Duomo, this is where we stopped for lunch. Italy, thousands of delicious restaurants and we end up here. Oh well. Pasta with cream sauce cheese and peas for Sofia. Too greasy. Pasta Bolognese, tagliatelle pasta, ragu sauce for Aaron. Good, but again too greasy. We also split a big salad, which was good, the vegetables were fresh. And to top it all off, a couple cans of Moretti.

Euro Beer #47: Some German Bar Near Trattoria Danio

 

 We each had a half litre of Augustiner and then I had a Weiniger Pils. The beer was pretty cool, dead though. Chips for free with the beer. We played a few hands of cards whilst the bartender switched the kegs when we first arrived.

We had dinner at Trattoria Danio, a nice local joint, then walked around. Go to Bergamo too.

A cool little wine shop we stumbled upon after walking around campus. We bought two glasses of wine. Notturno Sangiovese (2004). They had many different beers as well.

Euro Beer #45: Train Beer

 

Ok, before we leave Padua I had to show you this. Square toilet! I spotted it at some cafe on the way to the train station. Randomly, in the next city we were in, Bologna,  our hosts had the same toilet. But besides those two, no other square toilets were spotted on our journey.

Another train, another beer.
