1001 Beers You Must Taste Before You Die

This is a good book. Nicely designed. Quality writing. Great photos. But it's so damned big. The thing weighs about twenty pounds.

Buy it here.
Or go to Border's like I do during your lunch break and give it a gander.

Real Ale Stuff

News and bits from Real Ale's newsletter (emphasis mostly mine):

Mysterium Verum - as our barrel aging program continues to expand and evolve you will see more of these special offerings over the next several months. So far, very limited quantities of "The Highlander" (barrel-aged Real Heavy), "The Devil's Share" (barrel-aged Devil's Backbone), "The Kraken" (barrel-aged Sisyphus '08), "Empire" (barrel-aged IPA), "Vol.13" (barrel-aged 13th anniversary ale) and a barrel-aged Coffee Porter have been made available. Currently draft only, we are looking forward to bottling these concoctions in 750 mL bottles in the very near future so they can be enjoyed by more folks! We'll keep you posted...

Summer Seasonals on the horizon - our very unique Vol. 14 anniversary ale, the Lost Gold IPA, and a new draft only seasonal that cannot be disclosed at this time.

How Not to Throw a Beer Event

UPDATE via twitter:
20 different beers & food vendors too -- all free! Enjoy.

This morning Abita tweeted (and was fwd to me by Shane):
Beerfest tonite (5-8p) at Spec's in Austin, 4978 W US290 Service Rd. -- Abita Beer will be there!
And then on Spec's event page they put up this very helpful and useful info:

Cost? Who knows....

It's on my bike route home, so I'll most likely stop by to see what the deal is. You?

Craft breweries see untapped potential

I have not finished reading this. Why don't you read it and we will meet for a beer and you can tell me all about it. Thanks.

Growl

Beer Town Austin just tweeted this:
Sort of a slow day... eh.
You know what? He is right. Super slow. So for today's beertainment, and I know that is why you are here, go over to the BA forum and take a gander at this humorous thread.
