Euro Beer #69: Jenlain Ambrée on the Train
I am gonna finish this shit if it kills me. So what if this trip happened 8 years ago. . . So what if we have been back to Europe since this trip. . . This is the project I started. And I am gonna finish. At least you don't have to stare at that Total Wine post anymore. I know you have been here since May, just waiting for me to blog. Well the summer is over. Here it is. #Waybackwednesday

Euro Beer #68: 3 Monts on Train
Aix-en-Provence —> Barcelona
It was now early October in 2007. On the train to Barca. Early in the trip we popped open a bottle of 3 Monts I picked up in Aix.
Could not find a cup for our 3 Monts, so we improvised by cutting an Evian bottle in half.
It worked pretty well.
It is a lovely train ride. This is not a lovely photo. Sorry.

Euro Beer #67: Cocktails, Wine, and Dine at Host's Home
Aix-en-Provence
Cocktail hour.
Two meat plate. How do you say hot dog in French?
Le wine.
Not a flan fan.
Off to Spain!
Euro Beer #66: Aix en Provence Street Beer
Aix-en-Provence
After lunch we did some tourist shit. Mostly just walking around.
This called for a beer of course. This did just fine.
Just like Cezanne.
"Well, first I'd go to the room where they keep the Cezanne"
Cafecitos before hitching back to our host's home.

Euro Beer #65: Kronenbourg in some tasty cafe
Aix-en-Provence
We left our host's home and hitchhiked into town. This was on their advice. We told them we were wary about hitchhiking, but they assured us it is no big deal in Aix. Our driver was a sporty young fellow heading through Aix.
We arrived and were famished. The coffee and toast from earlier was not holding us over. We ducked into a crowded cafe. We almost kept walking because it was so busy. It was a good stop. I had a steak sandwich w/ onions and cheese, fries, mayo, and a crisp Kronenbourg. Sofia scarfed fries, fried chicken, and a salad. Extremely tasty joint.
Aix is pretty.

Euro Beer #64: Train to Aix en Provence
GENOA——>AIX
Finally leaving Italy. Back into France for just a little bit before heading to Spain for a month. We grabbed these sandwiches from a Chinese deli in Nice near station during a break on the trip to Aix en Provene. Fried Poulet Sandwich with asian veggies. The beer . . . italian, duh, which we bought before leaving Genoa.
Club sandwich - blah.
Happy to be back in France. Beautiful train ride along coast.

Euro Beer #37: House Beers
In the fall of 2007 (yeah, I know, OVER 5 years ago, but I am not
ending this series until ENDS) my wife and I traveled through Europe for
10 weeks. We ate a lot of food and drank of a lot of beer (and wine).
Not enough food, not enough beer. In Annecy still, let's hurry this up
and get onto Italy:
Still biking around town.
This was our last day in Annecy.
Later that night we bought some food to cook at the house and some really cheap, strong beers.
Forte.
Omelets!
Drunk on cheap beer we planned our next moves. It was a nice long stay in Annecy, but we were ready to move onto Italy.

Ok, so we did not stay in for long. We went out with our host's daughter. I had a Grimbergen and Sofa had a 1664 Blanc. The 1664 sucked, mine was ok.
The next day I did some yard work for our host. Had to pay our way somehow.
Sights.

I guess if I am gonna stay up late procrastinating I better at least blog. After our long ride around the lake we decided to relax at our host's place and make dinner. I don't know what these drinks were. I think rum and pineapple juice.
And we made some "Indian" cuisine.

On one of our last days in Annecy we took a ride around the lake.
Saw the sites. Le Brooklyn.
We made a lot of stops. Coffee. Treats. Casino. You name it.
We rode through this. I think. I have no memory of this.
We stopped here for lunch. After we finished eating we realized we had no cash. The town was dead (off season) and we were extremely lucky to find an ATM near by. We were seconds from skipping out...
The beer was mediocre.
But the sandwiches were fantastic.
So euro.

Red wine for Sofia and I had an Affligem. They were both fine. I mean, how good could they be? But they did the trick.
And then I went skating. I sucked, but at least the scenery was pretty.
Literally across the street from the skatepark. Annecy wins, yr shitty town loses.

Euro Beer #31: Annecy House Guest
In the fall of 2007 (yeah, I know, almost 5 years ago, but I am not
ending this series until ENDS) my wife and I traveled through Europe for
10 weeks. We ate a lot of food and drank of a lot of beer (and wine).
Not enough food, not enough beer. In Annecy:
At this point, this blog should be called EURO BEER. Craft Austin is dead, let's face it. But you never know, maybe I'll ditch the rest of the Austin Beer Guide crew and come back here full time.

Drinking Kir at a friend's house. What's kir? Where's the beer? Not in this post.
Then she made us dinner. This was the salad.
Some couscous.
Our morning view everyday while in Annecy. Not bad.
Sightseeing.
