New Stuff, at Whip In at Least

http://www.whipin.com/beer.html

Triticus. Baleywine? Wheatwine? Speaking of Harpoon, have you watched MLP #22 with Harpoon owner/founder Rich Doyle?

Had it once, want it again. And again. and a . . .you know.

Never had it. Want it.

I really like this on draught. Gonna definitely pick up a sixer. Best part, my wife does not like it. ALL MINE!

Hop Fest Day 1

The fam and I hit up Saucer last night. Rich Doyle was there from Harpoon. Nice guy. I was able to shoot a MLP with him, so look for that later. Harpoon/Saucer put on a free tasting. Three samples and some tasty snacks to accompany the beers. Not bad for free, not bad for not free.

My kid knocked over my Harpoon IPA. My fault, but I really wanted to blame him. Sofia would not let me.

This is how I roll. That is not a Harpoon beer. It is a delicious Green Flash Hop Head Red.

Thanks to Sam and the rest of the Flying Saucer crew.

Oyster Stout

UPDATE: Got a bottle at Specs on Brodie Lane. Also at Whip In and Arbor Walk Specs...

Came across this as well on my other blog, from October 2006, Oysters and Stout.

1. I want this. Harpoon's latest release in their 100 Barrel Series. We've got some of them in the past, apparently this one is already in Dallas, so I'm fairly certain I will get my wish.

2. Washington Post checks in today with a story on oyster stouts.

3. This is a photo of the best oyster stout I ever had.It was at the Porter House in Dublin in September 2007. Oh why did I only have one??

Pouring at the Flying Saucer

I know you are all probably heading to the Draught House tonight for Firkin Friday (see last post). But it's a longish (for some of us lucky souls) weekend so there is time to check out more than just one bar. The Saucer has some taps on in which you might be interested:

Wiesen Edel-Weisse
Harpoon Hefe
Magic Hat #9
SA Spring Bock
Rasputin
Real Ale Sisyphus 2008
Southern Star Blonde
La Folie
Maharaja
Hop Rod Rye
DFH 120 Minute IPA

It is a good time to be drinking beer in Austin. I would suggest you skip the Harpoon Hefeweizen and Magic Hat #9. You know what, forget that, try them, if you like them great, but I almost guarantee you won't.

Harpoon IPA

I mentioned this earlier. Available now in Austin. I know the Draught House has it. It's decent. It was easy to find up north and when I lived there I had a few, to say the least.

Harpoon Coming to Texas

According to Nick (nickdanger0479)on BA Harpoon Brewing is coming to Texas:

Harpoon's flagship beer, IPA (India Pale Ale), will be available on draft starting in January. The IPA is has a floral aroma with a medium body and an aggressive, clean hop finish. Their popular wheat beer, UFO Hefeweizen, will roll out on draft in February. Both the IPA and UFO Hefeweizen will be available in packages and Harpoon's Irish red ale spring seasonal Harpoon Celtic Ale will be available on draft in March.
