A Sunday Bike Ride with Craft Austin and BeerTown Austin

I'm really sick of those BTA guys. They keep getting me involved in shit. First it was the Austin Beer Guide. Now they keep roping me into events with them for Austin Beer Week. Dudes, I just want to enjoy the week and drink some beer. LEAVE ME ALONE.

But still, you should come bike with us (and these other things):

SUNDAY 10-23 THE ULTIMATE FANBOY BIKE PUB CRAWL OFF STRIKES MFin’ BACK

Yes, the most popular event (in our opinion) of Austin Beer Week 2010 returns with a lazy, last minute, procrastinatin’, lackadaisical MFin’ attitude. And by lazy, I mean that we’ve trimmed this crawl down to only three stops, yeah, lazy. Less bike, more pub for your money!

3ish PM FLYING SACUER > 4ISH PM DRAUGHT HOUSE (for the MFin’ Beer’ Olympics!) > 6ish PM BILLY’S ON BURNET (time to replenish those calories lost to biking with MFin’ COBRAS)

Bring cash, IDs, bikes, and bad attitudes!

ABG Fall Cover, Release Party Info

There it is. That is what you look for, starting next week.

The first release of this issue will occur a week from today. We are throwing a party at the Draught House. The party will also serve as the kick off for Hops & Grain, who will be pouring their beer for the first time that night. Buy a Hops & Grain beer and you get a free BeerTown Austin "Selleck" stache pint glass. We will also be giving away free swag we picked up at GABF. People love free stuff. See you on the 26th at 5pm.

Draught House Anniversary Party AND Austin Beer Week!

Straight from Josh at Draught House (emphasis mine):
. . . we have set a date for our 43rd Anniversary party. It will be on Saturday October 22nd. This is also to 1st day of Austin Beer Week. Save your strength (and your liver) cause it's gonna be a long week.

So it looks like Austin Beer Week will run Oct. 22-29. Right in time for the fall issue ABG!

By the way, have you seen the cover for the summer issue? No? Well, click here. Going to the printer this week.

ABW: Jester King, Music and Fire

Jester King hosted an acoustic music night at the brewery during Austin Beer Week.

It's hard to tell from this photo, but they had a good turnout. Always a nice size line for their beer. The beer was ON that night. A few posts ago I did not like the Commercial Suicide. Well, this night is was so good. Also, I really enjoyed the Rye IPA, dry finish, really nice. I need to get some more of both.

It's dark out there.

Festering.

It was cold, so they started a fire. Wise choice.

Sofia loves the fact that the Commercial Suicide is only 3.3%.

Good stuff today. If I venture out I will be keeping it local, maybe hitting Red's Porch or Opal Divines, maybe down to Zax. What are you doing tonight?

ABW Today and Last Call

Do this:

Holy crap, tons of stuff to do today. TOO MUCH FOR ONE SCREENSHOT! I'm sitting out today. I gotta recover from yesterday's bike pub crawl (more on that tomorrow).

But I will be going to this. And you should to. This is the lowdown from ABW:

Austin Beer Week’s Last Call -- Final Round
Austin Beer Week, Texas Craft Brewer's Guild & the HighBall are delivering final rounds to an exciting week of craft beer celebration. Join us for two "last call" sessions, each featuring tasty food pairings crafted by Highball chef and Alamo alum Trish Eichelberger. Highlights include extremely rare beers from (512) Brewing (cask-conditioned Whiskey Barrel Aged Double Pecan Porter, ONE Brandy Barrel Aged, TWO Double IPA), Real Ale (2009 Sisyphus Cask, Coffee Porter, 14 Anniversary Ale, Mysterium Verum) and Live Oak (Primus Cask). Everyone's guaranteed a pour, and local brewers will be on hand, making these beer and food tasting sessions more intimate than any festival, more confab than frat party. ABW: (512) Brewing

And now, (512) and what they will be up to during ABW. Check out the ABW website for full listing.

Sure these guys will be there, but still, it's a can't miss.

Bruin cask, need to try that.

ABW: Saint Arnold Austin Scavenger Hunt 2

ABW: Live Oak Brewing

Ok, ok, I had the greatest intentions of laying out each the breweries "best" events. As you can see I am a little behind. ABW starts in a few days, let's do this. Up now, Live Oak. For Live Oak's full schedule go here.

This event at Alamo looks like it will be one of the highlights of ABW. Good food. Great movie. Killer beer. Although eating at Alamo is always tricky, it's dark....depdending on what you eat, you have to awkwardly shift forward in your seat....don't get me started. But the food is really good, even if I can't see it.

ABW: Independence Brewing

Austin Beer Week is less than a week away. Let's take a closer look at what's coming, starting with Independence Brewing. This is not everything. Check the ABW website for the full gamut.

6th Anniversary Party. Technically this is not part of Austin Beer Week, but it might as well be.

Mmmm, cask Convict.

A good one for the Fam maybe. Sofia, you see this?

ABW: Saint Arnold Divine Reserve Vertical Tasting #1-9

Wanna go to the DR Tasting with Brock Wagner during Austin Beer Week?
Well, you better go sign up for the chance to BUY tickets. It's that limited. Winners will be chosen October 8.

I would love to go to this, but at $50, I just can't justify it. I'll be doing so much other stuff that week, can't swing it. Sounds awesome though.

Things are starting to shape up with Austin Beer Week. While I was in SF they released a slew of events. Below are some highlights I am looking forward to, but check out their website for a more complete list:
